January has finally come to an end and I managed to read a few books! I read six books in the first month of 2018. I am really happy with that amount.
I read three physical books and three ebooks!
Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire
This book has a lot of hype behind it which is why I picked up the ebook. Unfortunately it fell flat.
This is a novella so it is pretty short but It took me forever to actually get into the book. Honestly I only started to enjoy it when the murders started to happen.
This novella had a lot of diversity which I love!
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
This book has to be my favourite in the companion trilogy! I think I would have gave it a higer rating if Max was not a character because I really did not like him!
I understand why he was there (so Lola couldn’t get together with Cricket) but he was such a dickhead! I honestly wanted to punch him.
I liked that there was NO cheating in this book like there was in Anna and the French Kiss.
Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
This could have been my first DNF of 2018 but I somehow managed to complete it.
I hated how Isla treated her best friend and sister. Especially how she treated her sister. I am a younger sister and my sister some times treats me like Isla treated her and it sucks. I know how it feels and I hated seeing Isla doing that.
I love a good fluffy book but come on! This was just too much. I actually felt like gagging at points!
If I read this when I was younger, I may have enjoyed this but 19 year old me really did not like it.
Nice Try, Jane Sinner by Lianne Oelke
I requested this book from NetGalley and I am so happy I did because I really enjoyed it
This book is like the tv show Big Brother but in college and in book form.
I love a good reality show so reading a book with a reality show was really cool to see.
I was screaming at this book. I was rooting for Jane and Robbie so much and then Robbie had to go anf do a very shitty thing and I wanted to punch him so much!
This book was told in Jane’s journal. So this book was her journal which was different but really cool.
I will definitely be buying a physical copy at some point.
Prince of Flames by Ben Alderson
I was sent an early copy of this novella in excange for an honest review on amazon.
I loved Cloaked in Shadow so when i got the chance to read the novella, I had to take it.
It was nice to read from the princes point of view! It was refreshing to see inside his head.
Because You’ll Never Meet Me by Leah Thomas
I got this book from the Library because it sounded intriguing and it definitely was intriguing.
This whole book was told in letters which was different.
I don’t have a lot of thoughts on this book because it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t amazing either.
All I can say is that it’s different.
So those were the bookd I read in January. What did you read last month? Any five star read? Did you DNF anything?
